BLONDE IN THE DISTRICT
Dani lives in the Washington D.C. Metro Area with her husband, David and cat, Chloe. She created Blonde in the District in October 2014 after leaving a job in the corporate world. She longed for creativity and stumbled into blogging as an outlet, not knowing where it would take her. Since then, BITD has become her world, her inspirations, and her passions. Dani’s goal as a blogger is to share her personal life, style, beauty, and travel experiences, to encourage confidence of self and confidence to chase after one’s dreams.

"I love seeing the unique looks and they inspire me to try new things and style items in new ways. I also like to watch fashion documentaries."
What are your favorite Anne Fontaine pieces to style from day to night?
I really love the Malaga tunic dress I’m wearing in these photos, as it is the ideal day to evening piece. Here I’ve paired it with jeans for a daytime chic look, but I could throw on a slip dress with the tunic on top in a matter of minutes and be ready for evening occasions! I love that it doubles as a tunic or dress.
How would you describe your style?
My personal style is classic glamour with a whimsical and edgy touch.
What is your best piece of fashion/styling advice you got from someone else?
The best styling advice I ever received was from my mom, although I was too young to understand it at the time. The advice was to be yourself and wear what you like, even if someone else does not like it. I almost think its better that I did not understand it at the time, and as I grew up, I understood it. Personal style is about the woman, it is a reflection of ourselves, not about somebody else.
What would you say is the greatest reward from being a fashion blogger?
Learning about myself and pushing my boundaries. It amazing what I have learned about myself through running my own blogging business. It has also helped my style evolve and I am much more confident to take risks and try trends. Also helping to show other women to look at style as a way to boost your confidence and not be scared of style is also a huge reward.
What inspired you to start blogging?
I had just left a corporate job that left me feeling stripped of my creativity. I was craving a creative outlet, so I turned to blogging as my fix with the goal to show women that confidence can stem from style, no matter your size.
