The Art Of Motherhood

Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate the mothers and all they’ve done for us, but it’s also a time to celebrate all the dreams that have been made reality thanks to them. Today and everyday, let’s celebrate these women and the impact they are making.

Here’s to you, Mom.

Motherhood is the most challenging and rewarding job anyone can embark on. It’s not easy to always be present and to nurture kind human beings, but it brings so much joy the work is worth it. My hope is to raise my daughters with the love and confidence to know their own value, to have open minds and respect for others, and to live in harmony with nature. I wish for them, and for every other mother and their children, to feel, share, and appreciate the boundless joy and love our beautiful universe gifts to us – “La Vie”.

I’m a mother of 2 : Charlotte ( 21 y ) & Peter ( 16 y ) For many years, I’ve been a single mom before finding love again. Motherhood made me stronger and better and gave me the ability to surpass myself, to never give up, to always keep smiling. Since birth I tried to give wings to my children to allow them to fly away. Now we have almost adult-to-adult relationships. As Mother’s day is around the corner in France my children ask me the question: what do you want for Mother's Day? I want you, only you.  I want you to keep coming home, ask me questions, ask me for my opinion, advice, or help. I want you to discuss life, your plans, your dreams, your goals. I want you to tell me about your work, your worries, your lovesickness. I want you to share your life with mine. Come and make fun of me or laugh at me: I don't care, hearing you laugh is music for me. I've spent part of my life raising you the best I could, and with what I had: I think I did a good job. So, give me time to sit back and admire my work. I would be rather proud of that. I want you to have a good life, even more beautiful than mine. I want to see you happy and healthy. That's what I want for Mother's Day: nothing.

I want you, only you.

One of life’s greatest treasures and also the toughest job I can think of: Motherhood. I always knew I wanted to be a Mom…that I HAD to be a Mom. I am not disappointed. Instead, I am overflowing with gratitude. When I found out I was having twins, I felt double blessed but also the immediate worry as to whether I had the ability to love two equally at the same time. How does one even do that? Well, the answer is, when two is all you know, it’s what you do. The struggle is real. The sacrifices are real and the love is too!! I wouldn’t trade a single day of it. Did I really just say that?! Motherhood takes patience, humor, courage, leadership and grit. Because it gets gritty, especially entering the double digits. The kids seem so anxious to get older while all I want to do is slow the process down. I try to click my heels all the time hoping to make them the size to fit gently in my arms again. It hasn’t worked yet. I will keep trying. I have learned to never give up. On them. Or myself. This is key. It is my greatest hope for my two to leave this planet better than how they found it. To respect all things and people. To seek truth. Make thoughtful decisions. Act with integrity. Be good listeners. Listen to their heart. Exude positivity and share good energy. And find their purpose. To discover what makes them truly happy and to think of success as a way of filling their bucket. I shine brighter as a human because I am a Mother. I have learned to be selfless, resilient and consistent. Motherhood has made me brave and given me grace.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there. I see you. I feel you. I honor and celebrate you. Cheers.

It’s so beautiful to watch your kids grow and mature in this world, slowly but surely embracing their own individual personalities. It is also a time of overwhelming stress, exhaustion, and worry – but from it comes the most amazing relationships that we get to experience throughout our lives. I’m a mom who keeps finding that with the bad times, always come the good times and it is in all those wonderful small everyday moments that I can keep going through it all. At the end of the day – being with my kids is my favorite thing – but also not being with my kids is my favorite thing. Motherhood is all about finding the perfect balance.

Being a new mom is the best challenge that I’ve ever faced. As one of 7 children I’ve always known that I wanted a family of my own, and as corny as it sounds, I would always imagine how I might be one day as a mom - thinking I would have it all together, set a good routine, and have “the ideal” work/life balance. I imagined being that mom who would have photo sessions for each birthday month and holiday cards taken and sent out before the holidays. HA!

Being a new mom is hard! The first few months were extremely difficult and sometimes I would be lucky if I got to shower and get dressed. We are now approaching her 1st birthday, and it hasn’t gotten easier but thank goodness I don’t have to change out of my sweats in the morning lol. Seeing my daughter’s expression with every new encounter, hearing her first words, and taking her first steps make it all worth it and I love every minute of the chaos. I now 100% believe my mom somehow had 10 extra hands to do everything she did..

All I can say is… I am ready for another!
